Rembrandt's "The Night Watch"
« on: October 25, 2013, 20:58:59 »
Small diorama with custom-figures I made past days...
It is a representation with "live Playmobil" (*) of the famous painting "The Night Watch"  - official titel "The Shooting Company of captain Frans Banning Cocq and lieutenant Willem van Ruytenburch , made by Rembrandt during 1639-1642.

First 2 pics below are of the original painting by Rembrandt, which can be visited in the "Rijksmuseum", Amsterdam, The Netherlands.

(*) from post 1:
There exists a version of Rembrandt's masterpiece that looks a bit like a representation with Playmobil, but in fact it is a painting too or a print. There is no real Playmobil used in that one, but the painted figures somewhat look like it.
I don't know the author's name, 3rd pic below.

It looks great, instantly recognized it.  :)
Those clickies really match the people on the painting.

Only thing I'd change would be less lightning since the painting is quite dark.

In choosing an example of the original picture to post, I purposely went for a lighter version to show the details better.  For a long time, the painting was very dark but it has recently been cleaned and so is much brighter and lighter.
