Fi?ures Series 5 miner
« on: August 11, 2013, 21:57:05 »
This is the first Fi?ures item I've been interested in and, thanks to Surfergirl, I've been able to get four of them without having to lurk in toyshops squeezing Fi?ures bags!

The miners are for use on my railway layout.

The first photo shows a front, rear and side view.  It's a bit disappointing that the dirt on their overalls is only on the front and not on the back and arms too.  However, a bit of work with some suitable grey acrylic paint and an almost dry paint brush can make up for this omission.

A good point is that the reflective markings on the arms and belt are silver and note white and look especially good as they pick up the light very easily.

Second photo - the lamp on the helmet is very neatly done and is not a separate part but is moulded with the helmet, an example of three colour injection moulding in one operation.

Third photo - one of the miners at work guiding a train of empty hopper wagons and an empty tipper during shunting operations at the pit head.

All in all, an unusual and very well produced addition to the range.

They are great Gordon and I really like the way you are using them.  How are the masks affixed?  Do they hook on like sideburns?  Too bad the are only available as mystery figures.  Have yet to venture down that road.

The masks work the same as beards - no earring slots needed.
(these - the masks, I mean - are not new, btw ;) )

I think they've been used with police in the recent past.
