KIRKBEAN EXHIBITION 2013
« on: June 26, 2013, 16:01:41 »
It is getting close to this year's Kirkbean Exhibition (just over 4 weeks away) so thought I'd put a picture of the poster here.

For anyone new to the forum, Kirkbean Playmobil Exhibition was started by myself 4 years ago as a way to raise funds for our village hall here in Dumfries and Galloway, Southern Scotland.  I put on all the dioramas myself back then and although only small displays the event was very successful, prompting another exhibition the following year.

I now have help from Gordon (Playmofire) and Walter (Walts-Trains) and between us we fill the hall with dioramas ranging from 8 x 4 feet to 12 x 8 feet.

As the years have gone on, the event has been very well attended and looked forward to by many of the locals and holidaymakers alike.

As far as I know this is the only all Playmobil exhibition in the UK.

If anyone is in the area from 27th - 29th July please come along and say hello, you will be made very welcome.
(The refreshments with home baking are worth coming along for too   ;D  )

Elaine

BTW A "Guid Nychburris" type parade is a local parade with horse riders, bands and floats (lorries) held in Dumfries every June.  The words mean Good Neighbours. - (I'm still desperately looking out for lorries for this!  )

I can come up with some.  How many and what size do you need?

Approved and Featured your event over at PCC, thanks for posting it there.

Are you planning the parade to be an annual feature? If so it would be fun to send a parade entry from Animobil. I could put together a truck or something that looks like a display float and send it to you. If you give some idea of how parade entries usually look for this kind of event then I could come up with something that fits in. Maybe we could have one from PlaymoFriends too?

Time certainly flies! was great to see the pictures of the last exhibition and am looking forward to seeing them for the 2013 event too!

Might be neat to do something typically scottish or brittish with playmobil, as far as I understand national pride is quite big in the UK.

Maybe a loch ness display including a suitable dino to portray nessie?  :)

Good Luck Elaine

My family and I will not be able to come this year as our annual holiday to Kirkconnell will be the following week.  I look forward to photos.

very tempting.... all the kids have vacation then, and we could hop on a ferry to the UK.
hmmm,  talk to my wife and see if we have the finances for that.

Can I get back to you on that Gordon - I need to sort my things out - I've had so many parcels arriving lately that I don't even know how many lorries I have!

That is a good idea Tim  :)  I do like the idea of contributions from different parts of the world.
Last year I put up photos taken by other Playmofriends and would like to do that again this year.

One very Scottish things that Scots take pride in is a pipe band - I'm working on that  :shhhh:

Thanks Mark, sorry you can't make it this year.  If you're passing by the week after and see a car outside the hall call in, I'll probably still be packing things away!

It would be great to meet you if you can make it.

Have finally got my collection together after 12 months of part of it being stored elsewhere   :yippee:
I will try and post some photos of it later.
Received a ds order today, just waiting delivery of a parts order now.
Today's plan is to get all the tables and boards set up (a few days early this year so hopefully not so many late nights  :crossed: ) then it's all systems go for this year's exhibition!
Playmofriends was offline last year when I was setting up so couldn't do a progress report, but I'll try and do one this year for anyone interested.

I, too, received a min catalogue order today and am waiting for a DS parts order and DS catalogue order to arrive.  (All of these were only paid for at the beginning of this week!)

I will post a plan of the layout I'm planning later today and also update you on what tables will be involved.

Diane and I are available from Thursday evening and all day Friday.
