BATTLESTAR GALACTICA
« on: June 03, 2013, 09:00:17 »
(to make sure, this refers to the REAL Galactica not that messed up bloated thing they came up with recently!)

Anyways, here are a couple of pics of the cast...

Left to right: Jolly (Tony Swartz), Boomer (Herbert Jefferson Jr), Sheba (Anne Lockhart), Commander Adama (Lorne Greene), Athena (Maren Jensen), Apollo (Richard Hatch), Cassiopeia (Laurette Spang), Starbuck (Dirk Benedict)

And since Colonel Tigh (Terry Carter) didn't wanna appear there, here he is with Adama.

This is probably my first favorite show. Despite its shortcomings by today's standards, it definetely still holds a place in my heart, and the credits music can uplift me just about anytime (the tech whistling that tune was probably the best moment of the "remake").

We had a colonial warrior in the works for... have no idea. Probably over 10 years. But nothing ever came of it...

I actively started to pursue it again more recently.. And this time, we figured what to do from mostly existent parts...

After figuring which legs to use, we initially decided to do at least Apollo and Starbuck (DUH!) and Boomer.... since those were the legs we had. But when buying the matching torsos (the gardener) we figured it was better to get extras - and a female as well, since there's also Sheba (and, after her, Jolly).

We then decided to add Adama, Tigh and Athena. Those dark blue parts are just the PERFECT shade. And then Cassie. We still plan on adding Serina and Boxey. These are not as specific.

Finding torsos (matching the legs) and arms including a woman and a black guy for each "set" did not make it easy at ALL.

Also, we gave up doing Cassie with skirts :(

Main problems (besides the parts!) were the guns/holsters. I had initially planned to use the space guns, with zipties to hold them, but besides that part revealing itself more complicated than I expected (there is less room than I thought under the darn vest!), the guns looked ridiculously HUGE on their sides. So, decided to go for simple modern pistols.

As to the belts, Master Cheng provided. Thank you! Makes them a LOT better. They look awesome! I suppose they could be... straighter... especially on the back - but that's not his fault :-[

Bear in mind my "painting/writing" skills are kinda... well... low.

So, first the warriors:

Jolly, Starbuck, Apollo, Boomer, and Sheba

And the bridge guys, with Cassie:

Athena, Commander Adama, Colonel Tigh and Cassiopeia

More shots...

Starbuck and Apollo

Adama with his children: Athena, Adama, Apollo

Commander Adama and Colonel Tigh

Boomer, Starbuck and Jolly

Starbuck and Cassiopeia

The triangle: Cassiopeia, Starbuck and Athena

Sheba and Apollo

And that's it. For now. As mentioned, Serina and Boxey are missing.

Actually, you know ;)

...did I spot the colonel wearing that 'ugly' hair?

Yes... AMAZING, isn't it? As you know, I kept ONE - had to go hunt it from the jazz band...

A shame the afro hairs aren't... smaller. Those would be PERFECT.

Excellent customs Tahra
I don't really know the characters, but your versions seem very accurate.

I was never fond of SciFi but your figures are very very close to the originals!

I loved that show when I was a kid.

Most people my age did. They were VERY VERY popular. How many Cylons have you killed?

That is one of my favourite drama series next to The A-Team.

For me, best on the A-Team IS Dirk Benedict! (I love The A-Team series - though things started downhill when Melinda Culea left :(  Then working for that guy killed it)

even down to their hairstyles ;)

LOL - My sister and I refer to those hairpieces as "Apollo's hair" - I mean, if we were able to create his hair in playmobil, we couldn't come up with a more appropriate one! It's so... ON.
