MIGHTY WORLD
« on: May 15, 2013, 13:12:59 »

Does anyone know anything about Mighty World (mightyworld.com)?

The figures seem to be about the same size as Playmobil.

Wolf Knight, Bill Blackhurst and Wesley Myers all make some mention of the Mighty World toy line, but there doesn't seem to be any definitive information about the figures anywhere here at Playmofriends.

Has anyone actually bought any of the figures and compared them to Playmobil?

I haven't bought any, but I've taken a good look at them a time or two. They have them at Tuesday Morning stores sometimes, and they are packaged in such a way that you can see the figures through clear plastic. As I recall, they are slightly shorter than klickys, and I believe they have interchangeable hats/hairs. In other words, instead of the hat fitting on the hair, you take off the hat and then put on the hair. Some of their vehicles, particularly boats, are kind of interesting.

Thanks for your reply, Bonniebeth!

On the Mighty World website they state that the figures are 3 inches. It would be interesting to know if anyone has actually bought one of the Mighty World sets and made a comparison with Playmobil.

Thanks again and all the best,
Richard

I have some Mighty World figures.  The figures are different from Playmobil ones but a child could easily play with them together.  (I will post some photo comparisons later tonight.)

As for the accessories/buildings - they are awesome!!!

We have the Flowershop (http://www.mightyworld.com/town_life/8620_town_flower_shop.html), for instance, and the stuff that comes with it is very good.  The individual items are a bit small for the Playmobil figures to hold, but they look very good.

The building is very much like those from Calico Critters:

Those seem really nice - is the quality similar to Calico Critters/Sylvanian?

Hello Wesley Myers,

Thank you for the pictures! Really looking forward to seeing your photo comparisons!

And, to echo Tahra's question, "is the quality similar to Calico Critters/Sylvanian?"

Also, does the plastic quality for the Mighty World figures appear to be similar to the plastic quality for Playmobil?

Thanks again and all the best,
Richard

Okay, after the long weekend, a bout with stomach flu, etc here are the photos.

I took them on my iPad but could not get the code for this site from there.  So, I am now on my MacBook to do this.

This first photo shows a size/detail comparison (note the opening for the hands - the Might World hands are flexible (as is the plastic they are made of in general so they are less likely to break) so they could hold Playmobil accessories, but the Might World accessories are undersized for Playmobil hands):

These two show how the headgear fits on:

This one shows how they can move.  Wrists can swivel.  Heads turn.  Arms move individually.  So do legs.

However, when one leg is up, they do not stand independently (maybe this is why Playmobil has never had individually moving legs outside footy players).

I hope this helps with what you were wanting to see, Richard (and everyone else).  Sorry this took a few days.

Thank you very much, Wesley Myers!

Your photos really show both Playmobil and Mighty World figures perfectly.

Even though the body shapes are a bit different, it appears that the scale may be very close to the same.

Mighty World has certainly made their figures quite different from Playmobil. Actually, they are probably even different enough to avoid any possible legal issues. They seem to almost be more like large Lego minifigs.

As you said earlier, a child (and possibly even an adult) could play with these figures together.

Thanks again and all the best,
Richard
