As I understood it (there was an improvement for it), the wrist guards prevent the fletching in the arrow to harm the wrist, when they are shot...

From the position you shoot an arrow, I suppose the "feathering" of the arrow is likely to go by the wrist of the arm that is holding the bow, and eventually tear it open.

Again, that was my understanding... Not that I actually ever shot a (real) bow (playmobows don't count, right? :-[ )

Found it (bold the part I meant)

Quote
Bracer
(Available at the Blacksmith)

The Bracer was hard leather guard worn on an Archers forward hand. This improvement had the duel advantage of supporting the wrist, which would grow quite weary after many shots, and also protecting the inside of the arm from the fletching of launched arrows. Without protection, the arm could be cut over the course of many shots and weaken the Archer to the point of taking him out of combat. The Bracer was an important technology improvement for Archers that made them more effective.

Bracer (at Blacksmith) increases the attack strength and range of Archery Range units, towers, and ships (except those using gunpowder weapons).

I'm glad you still think my stickers are not too primitive compared to your beautiful prints and sticking skills (if I had your printer I would have no time for the these stickers long ago....can you imagine how many samurai and chinese flags I would have made :P and instead of maybe 150 Asians now, I probably would have made at least twice the number)
