In the UK, too, bakeries often have an area set aside where you can sit down and eat. It's becoming common, too, for other shops to do this, bookshops, for example. In Thirsk near where we used to live there is an excellent bookshop which also has a corner where you can get coffee or tea and cakes and lunch, too, if you want. In Scarborough, too, there is a similar shop selling also doing coffee or tea and cakes and lunches. (They do wonderful Yorkshire ham sandwiches with mustard - the mustard tickles the back of your nose it's so strong!)
