Disassembly, the "Spanish" way
« on: November 11, 2005, 10:06:59 »
Hmm, okay girls, I will let you know the spanish way...  :yup:
(try not to giggle out loud...  :-[ )

So, I disassemble my figures in giving them a firm push on the
back while they are in a seated position and the feet are fixated
somewhere... The meshs of my oven cloth are the typical ground
I use...

This is not very feasible for the overweight persons as the lever
between foot and hip is mispositioned or old persons with brittle
hips that might break before the head is released...
:hmm:  of klickies I am talking of course...
...and you can't use this technique for the soccer players as there
is no seated position...  :(

So what a guy from the spanish board used (I cannot be very
historically correct here though, as only gassy showed me!) is
a simple elastic band...
You simply take the band and wrap it around the figures neck.
Yes, right, exactly like you are trying to strangle the poor klicky. :yup:
Wrapping and wrapping firmly the band around the neck causes
the forces to increase that push the head away from its body.
So simply turning the head to one side will result in an unmounted
head.

So that's the spanish way...  8-)

P.S.: Best remove the wig, the elastic band might become damaged.
The physics are not so good if the figure is wearing a vest or similar...

thank you for the tip.
I have never tried it, but hopefully this will work for the old figures.  The women are particularly hard to "crack" open

I wounld think the soccer players would get tired of standing all day.
I mean they stand when they are on the sidelines, but I always assumed that they sat when the temas were traveling.
What airplane would allow them to stand these days?

Have you ever tried to sit in a plane (nowadays) like the usual playmos can sit?

Ok with you guys if I move the last bunch of posts to the [How-To] section in the Customising board? I think that info on disassembly deserves a separate topic so others won't miss it. ;)

OK, so I'm trying this method with a 'fat' klicky, and, well, nothing.  Do I wrap the rubber band around his neck, THEN turn his head to the side?  or do I start with his head turned to the side?

Any other techniques for disassembling a fat klicky?

I use a screw driver and cloth to wedge out the stout/thicker legs, and then put in a pair of normal ones.

Then they can crack open.  It a little bit harder than normal klickies to crack open, but it isnt too much harder.

I've only cracked a few fatties but I did it the way Meg describes...but with a touch of cussing thrown in. I found the second chunky one I tried worked better if I warmed up on some skinnies. (It's all in the wrist action.)

They do look a bit odd with the skinny legs on the bigger torso though. Sort of like MBL's "enhanced female".

Somewhere I have some instructions, I think from www.collectobil.com, we can ask if we can post.

Serenity!  :D I think, it's the same for all these techniques, a little patience is
necessary. I did it with a fat santa and it worked.
What might be a problem are vests and similar accessoirs that avoid the force
to push directly on the klickys neck...
Try it first on a normal klicky that you already have cracked... Then you can see
how it should work in general... You have to wrap the band really tight around
its neck and turn the head afterwards (my head typically turns when wrapping!).

Maybe I should make some pictures?

best regards,
socrates
