new dino sets now available at toys r us usa

i thought it would be of interest to some here that all but 1 of the dino sets are now showing up on toysrus.com.

i thought this bit of news was noteworthy as i had previously been led to believe the release dates in north america were further into 2013 when speaking with a rep at playmobil only 2 weeks ago .

all 8 sets are on the site but 5230 doesn't come up with a simple playmobil search:

What the playmobil rep told you is technically true. They won't be officially released here in the US (meaning they won't be available at playmobil.com or for private toy stores to order) until one year after their release in Germany. But every year, Toys R Us gets some themes early. so these will be available only at TRU until the official release, which make TRU happy, as for quite some time it will be their exclusive product.

Oh no!! This is horrible! I thought I had until next spring to save up for these, and here they are just waiting for me to buy them. If I hadn't just ordered a bunch of DS items form PlaymobilUSA I would be ordering them now. I will try to wait and see if a sale pops up again. There's bound to be one more before Christmas??

and today they're having a 20% off sale on playmobil BUT none of the dino stuff is available now. either they truly sold out in the hours between midnight and 8 or they excluded these from the sale.

I was monitoring it yesterday and the first on gone was the Stegosaurus, then the Dimetradon, then the Velociraptor... so I think that they are legitimately sold out... this morning they still had the motorcycle, T-rex baby vehicle, and volcano (though only as ship to store) all still available at sale prices... so they must not have gotten very many, or somebody bought them all up...     Wasn't me this time though

wow. those went fast. although, if memory serves me right, the fao soldiers sold out quickly the first time around and has been on sale or given away with purchase since.

i've wondered in the past with tru whether it's poor site maintenance or intentional but you will find thing omitted from these sales when they are all inclusive in stores. sadly, the brick and mortar experience is entirely relative. ours are sad for the playmobil fan. so, when they ran that big sale a few weeks ago with 25% off, free toy and gift cards, we didn't bother going to the stores where all of these deals stacked.

This is probably the most likely explanation as the prices will undoubtedly rise with the new year.

i wasn't in a special rush to grab these per se' but i could have been persuaded. it seems that that flash sale was it. all 8 of the sets don't even appear any more. so, do you all think he retail on these will really be higher than what they've listed now? just curious, did anyone here pick any up? anyone know when tru is actually officially slated to carry these? i have some of the last dino sets but not enough to build it out much so we all make due with our grab bags of schleich / k & m / safari ltd. / imperial(yep! 2 headed and godzilla,too), jurassic park (!) and various unbranded dinos.
