i just have overflown the posts here - very interesting stuff. i don`t know if this was talked about before but why are the edges not rounded in the 3d drawings ?

30% of my work is doing 3d animations . it would be very easy to make more rounded surfaces. if you like i can help with the 3d stuff.

Hi René, I can't subdivide in the cad program I'm using. I tried to import one of my files in silo2, and subdivide, but I got glitches in the mesh. I'm happy with the way they are now, but Javi will surely make molds aof these and get better edges and smoother surfaces. Which software are you using?

Hi Arnaud, i work with Cinema 4D . You did an awesome job with the 3D ! It looks like you should raise the amount of polygons. what kind of files does the 3d printer need ?

Cinema has a new function that works like z-Brush. google "z-brush" it`s an amazing tool for this kind of work.

I heard about cinema 4D, but never tried it. Is there a free/trial version? The files can be .stl or .obj or others. The small grooves on the flat surfaces of my objects come from the printer, not from the designing. Of course, if I could erase the edges of the polygons, that would be great. I'll give a try at this software. Thanks.

This is all very interesting but i wonder if such uses divert us very far from the original playmobil parts/designs. i suppose its everyone's choice after all what to use with playmobil etc. Personally i find all this 3d printing very interesting but i have some reservations as to ( personal view of course) how far such 3d items would move a playmo diorama away from an original one in terms of parts. However i am very keen to see more of such 3d uses in playmos, the possibilities are endless !!! :) :) :)

Well, George, I agree with you. The point here is to make parts PM never released, or better parts like the samurai helmets. Of course, if they did produce such parts, I would buy them, but some are not likely to be produced ever. Malone has been making Empire stuff for years, and PM never hired him, so I say, if you want special items, do them yourself!  ;D

Arnaud
Congratulations to you on a dream achieved.  As I have mentioned in other customizing or diorama posts, I am always amazed at the artistry and technical skill that is invested in our little klickies with such beautiful results.  Watching your progress unfold has been ever so intriguing, even for those, like myself, who do not build armies.  Thank you for your generosity in sharing the process.
