Geobra should have put a big "$" sign on the mountain seeing as this is the new god of our time. I guess it could have been the euro symbol for the Eropean markets and a dollar sign in others, A PINK ONE
If you hear the sound of the bell which will tell you that Grigori has been killed, if it was your relations who have wrought my death, then no one in the family will remain alive. They will be killed by the Russian people. :prays:

I'm AGAINST the removal of the cross and will complain about it's deletion!   :hehe:

Seriously, I'm not a religious fanatic (far from, one could rather describe me as an agnosticus), but a cross is part of  European and American culture! It it used indeed as a Christian symbol, and in mountainous Europe as a landmark as well.
In the Roman Empire in the centuries before JC, a big wooden cross was the equivalent of... a gallow in later centuries!

Darn, it is just a cross on the top of a mountain!! Oh yeah, but maybe the Taliban & Co. will get upset by such a toy and send suicide-bombers to Geobra's factory in Dietenhofen!  ::) What does one expect to get to see on the top of a Swiss or Austrian mountain? A Totem? A minaret??

Congratulations to the complainers, you probably have succeeded now in convincing Geobra to never release a Templar Knight, a medieval monk or a f****** nun again!  Not even mentioning a church. >:(
I COMPLETELY and TOTALLY agree with this!!!

AFAIK, the cross was originally a Roman instrument for (rather slow) executions.
I don't think one would associate a cross on an Alpine mountain with executions.

The symbol dates back to ancient Egypt, and perhaps even earlier, and was not a nice symbol. However, I also think no one will associate the marker on top of a mountain with that or with execution. It seems an obvious choice since that is what is really used on mountain tops.

Aha, that is interesting. What did it stand for in Ancient Egyptian Culture?

Not sure about egypt but AKAIK originally the cross represented the 4 elements, earth, water, fire, air.

It's had many meanings, but let's just say that in Egypt it is thought to have had to do with fertility.

I'm having a discussion about the cross-subject on the PCC with... someone from here  ;D

Now I'm imagining a farmer distributing crosses across his fields   ;)

I don't think that's what bonniebeth meant.

Anyway, all I'll say is that it would be disappointing if this heralds the end of sets like the Crusade ones. The Nativity sets are still out though, so I'm not worrying yet.
