Kirkbean 2012 - Gulliver
« on: September 04, 2012, 21:34:55 »
Photos from the Gulliver diorama.  First of all, thank you to Macgayver for allowing me to copy his idea, and also to Playmobil for sending me the pirate.  :love:

I would have like to have built a city in the background, but the majority of my steck was in use for Hogwarts so I placed this display next to the Hogwarts display to give the impression of a town in the backgroung and concentrated on the shipwreck and the beach with the townsfolk gathering things from the shipwreck.

It was amazing the number of times I had to lay the ship down on its side because people kept standing it upright, thinking it had been knocked over  :lol:

Here's a photo of it the correct way...

Gulliver tied up...

A close up...

The townsfolk took away what they could...

While other townsfold watched from the cliff top...

Gulliver was very good and remained smiling throughout his ordeal...  ;D

I would have liked to make more of the display but space prevented this, so maybe next year I'll try again with a larger area and add more to it.

All I can say is 'wow!'  I love the whole thing, from the idea (which made me laugh out loud, so then I had to explain to other people in the room what I was laughing at! lol) through to the  brilliant execution of it - it's fantastic!
An excellent diorama - just one quick question, how big is Gulliver?  I wondered whether he was one of the 30cm figures they're selling on the playmo site, but then realised that if a normal figure is 7cm that couldn't be right  8}

Great photos, Elaine.  I hope you will rerun it next year.

There sure are a lot of kegs coming from that shipwreck, maybe those clickies will be kind enough to put a handle on one of them so Gulliver can use it as a mug.  :)
