DS?
« on: September 03, 2012, 22:20:23 »
Being new to Playmobil and this site I have questions. One of which is what is DS?.. Direct Service I'm assuming. And is that a site I can go to and order a certain part i.e. wheels or motorcycle handlebars etc. Anyway, thanks for any info along this topic.

Direct service is used as a place to buy packs of accessories and in addition discontinued sets the have been repackaged, in most cases, without figures or other small pieces sold with the original set. A direct service booklet comes with each Playmobil catalogue, but you can also order direct service sets online. To get spare parts (sometimes free), you can contact Playmobil - they have a large variety of parts available and can send them to you.

Hope this helps!

Just one last thing, direct service is not a separate site, there is a section on Playmobil.com to purchase direct service sets. :)

Sorry for the double post. :-[

Some of us have a tendency to (incorrectly) use the term DS when what we really are referring to is the spare parts service. You can order individual parts from playmobil using the part numbers which can be found on http://playmodb.org/ . In order to do this, you email customer service with a list of part numbers you want, and they send you back an invoice.

Aye, PlaymoDB is a wonderful site where you'll probably be able to find any part number you'd need (and also any information you might want to learn about older sets or parts). But keep in mind that not all of the parts are always in stock. Mostly older parts are unavailable, but sometimes newer parts are unavailable from the service.

Also, as bonniebeth said, I think it could be safely said that almost all of the times DS is mentioned here it is in the "spare parts" sense, as the actual DS sets are more or less readily available on the Playmobil site or from the catalogues.

Ah, yes, forgot to mention that. All spare part orders I've placed have arrived complete, but most of the parts I have ordered are recent, so I doubt that anything that was discontinued a while back will be available.

Very nice info. I have used PlaymoDB  when I buy a lot of PM to see how close to complete I got. I will try to email them with some parts I'm looking for. Thanks again all for the info.
