The hobbit will fill in A LOT of the blanks.. Most of the non-hobbit/dwarf characters are a cameo in the book.. Not to mention the off screen battle, that will be VERY MUCH on screen on the movie, I'm sure...

The movie will probably INCLUDE the Hobbit, but reach MUCH further. It MUST.

Me too. I heard there will be three movies and a lot of material from the appendices of lotr books will be used.

I cant help but have the idea that it will all feel rather underwhelming after the lord of the rings trilogy though.
