How well do the new lion knights combine with the old?

I'd like to give my lion prince some soldiers for a future story, right now he only has a crossbowman with a large black and yellow shield, and a spearman with a red with white shield from a special.

So I was kind of wondering how well the newest black lion knights match up with the previous generations. The 90's generation seemed to either wear black and yellow or red and white, and this newest batch seems to combine all those colors but still does seem to have a different style, and I cant really tell how different the lion symbol is from the depictions.

I think they look fine together, slightly different but that can be just a variation in regions of the kingdom

Strictly, they're different coat of arms, from a heraldic point of view. One lion (blue=azur) is seen from the front while the other is seen from the left side, and it's black (sable). So they can't be the same family. Otherwise, the style of the designs is quite similar.

Maybe the old style could be used as royal heraldry and the new style for the army? I could keep the crossbowman and the spearman as the prince his bodyguards with the others presenting the army perhaps.

I agree with Arnaud, the coat of arms show different factions rather than all belonging to the same group or family. But, similar different coat of arms may be used to represent different factions or corps within the same group or family... In my story the lions are an extendend family, each group have their own coat of arms, may it be the lion faces front, right or left, has a crown or not, etc etc...
The idea of the bodyguards is a good one. If, lets say, the lion family has 5 different groups/factions then each family can offer their best man as a royal guard to the prince/king or leader of the extended family, thus each man bearing the coar of arms of his group...
Or maybe they all bear the coat of arms of the leader, but with a small variation on the coat of arms to signify their origin... This last one is not easy with playmobil heraldy, but I am sure Arnaud can cook up something

Heh I dont have enough space to let them all be their own expanded faction, theres three sharing a castle already. 

That's why I am carefull with buying medieval troops with other heraldry than what I already have, it needs to fit in somehow. Considering that these both have a black silhouette of a black dragon, it might match up.

The original Lion soldiers are still available at DS here I think, but I can't seem to find a way to place an order without it requiring a creditcard.

My friends from Brazil really liked your shield web page, and they found another shield for your digital collection, they say that it is the first shield made by the manufacturer Troll, the embossed red shield, very rare over here.

Do you think it is a different red than the two shown at http://animobil.info/shields/text/5d0863aa-528.html ? I know of the more orange one that is common, and then a darker red variant. There is also the very early white version that is very rare. I put the two red ones together on the same page as the color is hard to tell apart unless directly compared.

I'm sorry my friend, our mistake, you are correct, you have a good point on the color and some colors also fade along the years. Thank you for the enlightenment.
