Fire Station Remodel, Plus Customs
« on: July 19, 2012, 03:56:07 »
Been making some more improvements to my fire station. I decided to make it so it fits in the corner, and that way I can store extra apparatus in the back corner. Also a bigger footprint for the upstairs without using as many system x pieces. Hope you like it.

Here you can see the boat and extra trailer stored in the back.

An overview of the kitchen. More about the pool table in a minute.

The kitchen area.

Some of the guys playing cards.

I came home from work today to find this custom pool table that Bonnie surprised me with. ;D

sleeping quarters

the new bathroom fixtures were also a surprise from Bonnie. Sinks at the entrance

toilets with partitions for a little privacy

and showers

living quarters

and the exercise room that Bonnie helped me design.

Built-ins with shelves for towels, a TV, and dumb bells, which we don't have.

And a weight bench, two stationary bikes, and bonnie's custom treadmill. ;D

Excellent improvements and additions to your firestation, Chris! Looks like your firemen are having a great time when they are off duty or on a stand by status! Th pool table is again awesome!!!

Great job on this ongoing project, bb, & Chris! It looks like you all have been reading my mind on some of my exercise equipment that I was planning to use in my future fire station interior stories !
Forget about all of the other stuff,....all we need is the reintroduction of the 3526 Fire Engine!

There's some wondeful detail there, Chris, and well done on that, but I'm not sure about having exit doors for the appliances at right angles to each other.  Sooner or later, there's going to be an accident with two appliances turning out together or a delay in a turnout because, for example, one unit is backing into its bay having returned from an incident while another is trying to get out of its bay to go to an incident.

Yeah, that's what I said when he was working on it. ;) But we wanted it to fit in to the corner. I suppose the doors for bay 3 and 4 could be around the corner, though, in the same spot but opening in the other direction.

Great station and customs Chris!

Eugene Station 1 which is pretty new is built this way on a corner lot. Like a lot of the stations here the vehicle bays have doors at both ends. The outgoing is away from each other at right angles, all vehicles are pulled in from the rear so they are facing out ready to go.

Here is the Google map view of Station 1

That station looks a lot like ours! Come to think of it, maybe this should be the back of the station. And yeah, that's true, many of the stations around here have a drive around back, too, so that they drive in from the back and park facing out. More crowded down-town stations have to be backed in to, but in our area there's lots of space around the stations.

Also, Chris was pointing out, bay 3 has the back-up fire engine, and is only called out for high-priority calls. So it would never leave the station unless the apparatus in bays 1 and 2 are already gone. The ambulance in bay 4 would, though.
