KIRKBEAN 2012 - HELP / IDEAS NEEDED
« on: June 25, 2012, 13:16:59 »
A little while ago I mentioned doing a display to involve other Playmofriends.

As time for Kirkbean gets nearer I need to concentrate on the displays and would like ideas from anyone regarding a nursery rhyme/fairy tale display.

What I had in mind was a large board made up of individual small displays - each about 30cm diameter with a small scene relating to a nursery rhyme or fairy tale.

I have a few ideas of my own, but if anyone would like to contribute an idea - either with a photo or a description, I will try to copy it as best I can with my Playmobil and put a note next to it with the name and country of the person whose idea it was.

I would like this to be organised within the next couple of weeks if possible (the exhibition is at the end of July)

Anyone up for the challenge?

For the Fairy Tale theme, I would definitely put in a big castle (as big as you can fit in that space), and you could try to make some knights and civilians with light, pastel coloured clothing, tabards, plumes, and such. That would be cool. And you could try to have some of the figures riding unicorns if you can get them to stay on their backs. :)

The idea of a large castle is a good idea, perhaps every room could show something from a different fairytale? The castle shouldnt take up all the space though, there could still be room outside for other scenes.

Here are a few suggestions for inside the castle:
-Sleeping beauty room. The room could have plenty of roses in there, maybe some vines if possible, with sleeping beauty laying on the bed and a prince clicky leaning over her to kiss her.

-Knights of the round table room.
King Arthur could stand at the round table and appear to be talking, with the knights sitting around the table. Maybe Merlin could stand in a corner and watch them.
All knights should look friendly though, no dark knights here.

-Cinderella.
At a stairway, Cinderella could be seen walking off with a prince standing on the stairs holding a glass shoe. (might require a little custom work.)

-Gingerbread man.
Using clay, a small gingerbread man could be running amok in the kitchen, with surprised kitchen staff watching him.

-Knights of the round table room.

That's a good idea, I have done such a room a couple of years back, here it is: http://www.playmofriends.com/forum/index.php?topic=4401.0

I recall other more impressive ones, but can't remember where I've seen than exactly  :-\

I'll try to work on a few more ideas...

Thanks for ideas so far.

I would like to stick with the small scenes because I only have an 8 feet x 4 feet board to spare for the whole display ( though I could maybe increase that to 12 x 4 if necessary)

I think the Cinderella and Sleeping Beauty would be possible as small scenes; your descriptions are fine Rhalius - do you have a suggestion of which klickies to use for sleeping beauty and the prince?

The knights of the round table is a great idea, but I think I may save that for a display next year, as at the moment I want to concentrate on something for very young children.

I realise that a lot of the nursery rhymes I had in mind originate either in the UK or USA
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_nursery_rhymes

but I wouldn't mind including scenes based on some of the Disney fairy tales, which seem to have worldwide appeal.

Elaine if you have dwarfs you could make Snowwhite maybe too. Probably the scene in the house when they clean up along with some forest animals. That wouldn't need a big set.

Also ...Beauty and the beast.... any princess in yellow puffy dress and some prince with a Playmo lion head instead of the regular head... the dance scene would work on a dream castle pavilion or some dream castle custom room with the curved staircase :)

Robin hood with medieval sets

Rapunzel.....a tall round tower... a clicky with custom blond braided hair maybe made of wool and a witch or prince climbing up

I'll keep thinking...  ;D

Not quite sure which clickies could be used for sleeping beauty and her prince, I'd guess a blonde princess with a haircut that allows her to lay on the bed with her face looking up. I am not too familiar with the fairytale theme, but I bet theres suitable clickies for it in there.

Outdoors, the princess and the frog might be an easy one. Just needs a princess and a frog next to a pond.  :)

Maybe you could make a little game out of it, listing all the depicted fairytales and lullabies and letting the viewers try and find them all on the display.  ;)

Maybe would 'The Little Mermaid' be a good one.. make a scenery in blue- under water effect-, mermaids and mermen enough.. I would use the one with shells-for-bra for Ariel. The merman king looks like her father and there's also an evil mermaid- queen. Maybe you can do something with that black octopus. However, there is a lot of Playmobil that fits in that theme!
