Armored Samorai
« on: November 05, 2006, 17:15:08 »
Hi all.

Finally finished my armored samurai. Well...as finished as I have the patience for, anyway. He is all playmobil except the plastic panel I used for most of weave portion of armor and the cresent. The weave pattern was done on the computer. Learned a lot of things not to do on future customs. He's way too fragile and and chipped and smeared in spots because he fell apart so may times and I just couldn't fix everything. But I'm relatively happy with how he turned out. :)

--oh darn, I just noticed the weave pattern turned out wavy on the pic. It doesn't really have waves on those parts. I'ts my bad photography :P

Hi Knightmo.

Wow, what a cool figure!  Great attention to detail.  I really like the sandals and the armor.  ( I was wondering how you were going to do that.)

Way to go son :yup:

Hello, Jimmy ...

Finally, finally someone has made a real Playmobil Samurai !!!

I just hope that the folks at Playmobil see him and realize that we all want a Samurai army!

If you haven't already, please post your beautiful figure over at GW-PC, so that they all can drool over him.

MAGNIFICENT FIGURE ...  :wow: ...  :wow: ...  :wow: ...  :wow: ...  :wow:

Thanks for sharing!

All the best,
Richard

Excellent custom, and don't worry about the wavy lines as they're almost certainly the result of the photographic process rather than an error by you.

WOW! :o

This is an incredibly intricate and beautiful custom! And very unique too. :D

Well done, Knightmo! :)9

Just wondering...
How did you create the part of the sandal that goes around the samurai's ankle?
:!:
The white painted feet combined with the sandals would also look great on a Japanese geisha! 8-)

I really like all the neat little details on this figure. Thank you for posting the pics here. :)

Thank you ;D

I posted him on GW-PC. I'll post better pics over there to show as much detail as possible(and all the little flaws I was trying to hide in this pic :P).

The sandal straps are made from Cleopatra's bracelet and two little ties from the beard of the pirate special. I cut the bracelet in two pieces to make the ankle wraps.

The ties on the upper armor is also from that pirate beard.

I was using the housing to to the motor-boat engine for the crescent and could have for the flat pieces of armor, but my idea's changed mid-project and I ran out of boat engine. ---speaking of which, does anyone know of a good source of plain flat playmobil plastic so I can make truly 100% playmobil custom stuff in the future?

-Jimmy :)

Hello, Jimmy ...

Have you looked at any of Playmobil's System-X building pieces (walls in particular)? You can order all of them separately from Direct Sevice.

All the best,
Richard

Thanks Richard.

I guess I assumed The walls would be too thick, but I should give them a look see.

That is an awesome custom! I love it!

And the waviness has nothing to do with your photography - it is called a "moire pattern" which is a result of digitizing the image.
