Hello from Greece
« on: May 12, 2012, 21:26:33 »
Hello everybody

My name is George I’m 40 years old and I’m from Thessaloniki, Greece.
I'm married and I have a daughter 1,5 years old (Renia) and my wife (Fotini) is pregnant to our second child who is a girl again and she will born about the end of July.
Of course all my family loves playmobil and I’m playing with these from when I was a child.
As a kid I had two collections from playmobil Lyra that we had here in Greece.
My first collection was stolen when I went with my mother an excursion with my school. I forgot my playmos out to our yard and it was a big mistake. It was one of my worst days of my life.
So after this, I started to collect again. My plan was to get 100 figures (it was a very big number for me then). And finally I did it. I was keeping all the money that my parents were giving me to buy playmobil. I had everything that I wanted but I hadn’t buildings, were very expensive. I went to my uncle who was woodworker and I took some woods. I made a very nice west city with saloon, bank, ranch, sheriff and many houses. Unfortunately I don’t have photos with these.
But time passes very fast.  My sister married when I was 13 years old. I wasn’t playing with playmobil anymore. My cousin who lives in Germany came for the wedding. He had a son 4 years old. I decided to give my collection to the little boy. He is 27 years old now and he keeps the collection for his own kids. I am very glad for this.
I'm longer now about 18 years old, my sister has two sons and I buy playmobil for my nephews. We have now the original playmobil and the sets are fantastic and so I started to collect again. That collection was small and only with West sets.
But it's the time that I must go to the army and I decided to give my collection to my sister's sons. And guess what, a few months ago my nephews gave my collection back with many other sets that they had as kids. Between these the big steck castle 3666, the ship 3740 and the farm 3716!!! I was lucky and I’m very happy for that.
When I was 25 years old I met my wife (Fotini) and after a big fight that we had I went to a toy store and I bought for her the Victorian house 5305. I wanted to ask her sorry because I was wrong at this fight. And that it was, I started to collect again and I didn't stop until today, it was from 1998 until now.
I collect Pirates, knights, West sets, Romans, Egyptians, Forest and Adventure sets and Safari. I have also some system-x buildings of City Life sets and I use these for customize old season's buildings.
Well, this is my story with my playmos and I’m here to share with all of you my work and my ideas. I have many pictures to show you and I will post these very soon.
I can't wait to know you all better. Many of you I believe that you know me from Tricornejock.com forum where I’m member too and a moderator.
I know also that you have here a great Greek community and I’m so excited for that.
I'm sure that I will have much fun here.
That's all for now and I will see you soon on the forum.

Greetings George.  :hatoff:

Hello and :welcome: from Louisiana, USA! It's great to have you with us! I really enjoyed reading your story, sounds like you have a quite a long history with playmobil, and have been very generous with it over the years. Can't wait to see your pictures.

You're right, we do have quite a few Greek members, and the number is growing. In fact our top poster, one of the moderators here, is from Greece.
