City theme.
« on: April 04, 2012, 09:02:08 »
For modern theres all kinds of things, but it could be nice to have a city theme. It would be compatible with anything else thats modern. The emergency services would fit right in, as well as the houses, harbour and everything.

Anyways, on to the set ideas for such a theme.

-Bar.
A nice medium sized building with a bar with stools, a table with chairs, a pooltable and a dartboard. Also comes with a liquor cabinet and some glasses and bottles.
Included clickies: bartender and a male and female visitor.
They have released multible saloons and a medieval party with a huge beer keg, so I see no harm in this set.  :)

-Toy store.
Why not capture the place kids like best in a set?  ;) Would be a great promotional set for any toy store selling playmobil.
A small building containing a cash register and lots of toys on shelves. Including of course some microset playmobil.
Included clickies: saleswoman and both a boy and girl customers.

-Apartment building.
Similar to a house or hotel, but with much smaller rooms. Basicly a place to house many clickies.
It has two floors with a hallway in the middle, with an apartment on each side, four small apartments in total.
Each apartment has the basics: a bed, a small bathroom with toilet and shower or bathtub, and a bit of other furniture such as a table with a chair, a couch, etc.
Each apartment could have a somewhat different style interiour.
Included clickies: An old lady living in an apartment with a bit more classic furniture and a cat, a cool looking clicky with a guitar and modern furniture, a guy in a suit in a very neat apartment, and a woman with painting equipment and a colorfull apartment.
Box art could depict the four clickies being friendly with each other despite their differences, with maybe one picture where the clickie with the guitar is making noise when the others want to sleep.

-Office.
Can be used as an expansion to the apartment building, it uses a floor with the same layout as the apartment building so it can be combined to make a larger apartment building or a larger office.
Only one of the "apartments" could have a toilet here. Comes with various desks, chairs, books, closets, computers and other office supplies.
Included clickies: fat elderly clicky with glasses and beard in a suit portraying the boss, an adult male and female clicky in neat clothes portraying office workers who are equals, the woman should not be portrayed as a sectretary.

-Italian Pizzeria.
Loose pizza bakers seem to have been made twice, seems its about time to give them a place to work at.
Small size white buiding with an oven and kitchen inside, and a table with chairs outside.
The entire set could look very italian, with red and green decorations.
Included clickies: an Italian looking woman with apron as the chef, and a guy with a child as customers.

-Taxi.
A simple cab that can be released in several versions based on country, a typical yellow cab from new york could be the american version for example.
Comes with a cab driver and a customer.

-News crew van.
A standard van that comes with camera equipment, and various stickers to place over the side of the van so the name of the channel can be chosen. This could include sponsors.
Included clickies: a news lady, cameraman and driver/assistant.

-Small park.
A set that comes with a bench, multible hedges, a tree, flowerbeds, a trash can, a street light and various birds.
included clickies: a lady with her son and a dog.

The idea of a bar initially sounds a bit startling and inappropriate for a kid's toy, but we think nothing of western saloon sets, so why not? Lego has done a TRU promotional before, with delivery trucks delivering legos to the store, as I recall. But a whole toy store in playmobil would be awesome.

An apartment building would be great, especially if it had optional extra floors similar to the school building.  :yup:  I have thought that perhaps the school building could be customized as an apartment building.  :hmm:
Anyway I think these are all good ideas, truly something to think about and comment on, thanks so much!

Btw, I'd rather they didn't do a pizzeria, because it would lead to more accusations of copying lego. 8} They had one in the city theme a few years ago, Chris had it.

Great ideas! I think It's about time we got another taxi cab - last one was released in 2001.
I also love the apartment idea - my klickies are running out of places to live! :-\

I went back and read your apartment ideas more carefully, and I like it very much! I think each apartment should be like a loft/efficiency... one big room with open floorplan and smallish kitchenette, plus a bathroom. Perhaps one of the apartments could use the sleeper sofa from the modern house living room. A futon might also be a cool addition, or a murphy bed.

How about adding a government building to your theme.  A bunch of %^&$#@^%&&*^ and then some type of court room addition with judges, recorders and bailiffs. The roman column could be reused.

At least then we could drive our towns into bankruptcy  :P

Is it a Medieval City theme...?

I might buy some of the food that would come with these sets, like pizzas and such. ;)

heh nope just normal city.  ;)

I did think about a city hall but thought it could be too similar to the office. then again with a court room it could be very different still. Nice idea.  :)

Theres definatly a lot possible with apartments, problem might be the piece count since there could be so many stuff. I do like the idea of a little kitchen in there though, but I can imagine such a set being kept quite spartan due to there being four "houses" in one.

Perhaps there could be an apartment expansion set with various furniture though.  :)
