5962 Ice Cream Cart
« on: February 23, 2012, 20:21:09 »
This is a review of the new version ice cream cart. It has a few new features that are interesting. First the box pictures:

Instead of having an umbrella like the old cart does, this one has a giant sign that fits into the hole. Seems a bit less practical... it would be difficult to drive with the sign in place, unless it folds down somehow, and the shade of an umbrella would be nice on a hot summer day.

Here are the ice cream flavors. I believe the lime color is new in this form... there have been cups of ice cream in this color, but no tub that I know of. The dark raspberry is a lovely color, looks tasty!

I like this new feature... it's a pole that allows extra cones to be stacked on the cart.

Three extra cones that are included.

And here it is with stickers and people. The klickys are all repeats/reworks from other sets, no new parts. I love that the dark raspberry-colored ice cream comes in a cone also.

All in all a nice little set, for only $10. It feels the same quality as the old set, except for one issue... I can't get the lid over the ice cream to close all the way. I think there's a bit of plastic that needs to be filed down, so I'll see if that works. I'm happy with it, especially since I am going to customize it!

What, no chocolate? :D
They must be using too much of it for the new riding stables series.

A cute set... And a nice use for an antenna.

But.. no chocolate?! That should be FORBIDDEN.

Thanks for a very useful review, Bonnie.  I have the DS ice cream cart and I'll add the antenna to it for extra cones, and maybe (when they are available), get some more flavoured ice cream.  When you have a moment, if you would post the part number for the lime and the raspberry ice cream, I'd be grateful.)

The new sign certainly is a negative point;  when I saw the first pictures in Barom Marshall's thread, I thought the sign was actually three balloons!
