Dropbox Query
« on: February 12, 2012, 13:37:13 »
Can I post a link using dropbox on PF to give people access to a large file (17.5MB Excel spreadsheet) they might find useful? I will also make the file available as a PDF, but some might like access to the Excel version. I have a few finishing touches to make to the file, but can post a test link here if that would help.
At that moment the ship suddenly stopped rocking and swaying, the engine pitch settled down to a gentle hum. 'Hey Ford.' said Zaphod, 'that sounds good. Have you worked out the controls on this boat?' 'No,' said Ford, 'I just stopped fiddling with them.' (With thanks to Douglas Adams)

Can you explain what the file contains?

I have created  (initially for personal use) a visual index to all the 146 hair type/colour combinations I found in PlaymoDB, with a picture of each one, tabulated so each column contains one type (e.g. "shaggy male", "standard girl", etc.) and each row contains one colour. All the information and pictures are from PlaymoDB, so I asked Heather (by email) to take a look and she felt it could be useful for other PM enthusiasts (who like me want their Klickies to wear the right hair, for example).

So there are two things I wanted to check out before posting links to the documents in question:
1. Is it OK to share PlaymoDB data and pictures in this way (Heather said OK)
2. Is dropbox the best way to give others access to the Excel and .pdf files?

If helpful I can email or PM a link to the files for your perusal. If all's well I may post these in 'What is this?'

PS I have finished tinkering with the files and they are ready-to-go if agreed!

Oh, excellent idea! I agree that the topic board you have selected would best benefit from this wealth of information. If other moderators think it would be better somewhere else we'll move it later.
