I would suspect that such an agreement would be for the benefit of the small retailer.

If the large chain can drive the small one out of business by having lower prices then the store with the monopoly can just increase prices later on.

In Spain Carrefour is not selling Playmobil since 2010, apparently they did not reach an agreement with Playmobil...  :eh?:

hum .. a special in carrefour (there're still playmobil on carrefour quimper) is 3E , in leclerc it's 2,8E , in a toy shop you can find a special at 3,5E , there's still shop on the web in germany (with near all box) who sell a special 1,59E so it's very strange story , there must be someting else to know . I speak last year with a director of "jouet club" (specialised in toys) he tell me they have to buy huge quantity in portugal to get cheap price because they can be competitive with carrefour for exemple because if you buy more you have cheap price . For me it's impossible to have an opinion on that subject . I don't know what can be the marge of these shop but i know just before chrismas , they sometimes sell for half price to sell their stock . I buy all my playmo on the web in germany and i don't anderstand very well what playmobil want to control with his new marketing .
