The great day moved always closer. Finally TURFRIED of Mittland arrived as the first king. With many followers he rode to the castle Adlerfels, the main castle of king LINHOLD. Innumerable curious ones followed his way to the castle. Eagerly they were mindful to be able to throw a view of the high attendance. And the spectator quantity was just as numerous, when the next day also king MERHARD took this way to the castle.

In wise foresight LINHOLD had assigned  to the two enemies including their attendants from each other separated rooms of his castle as accommodation. So they could not meet themselves before the conclusion of the contract. Also on the castle the last preparations for the ceremonies were made now. The way for the peace was prepared.

Finally it was the time, the kings were led to the festival room. TURFRIED should enter the hall from the left, MERHARD from the right side. The servants were instructed sharply to open the doors at the same time. They should always bring the guests holding on same height before king LINHOLD, so that none of the high guests feels disadvantaged.

The innumerable samples brought the desired success. After the third knocking of the ceremony master the servants opened at the same time the doors. They led the kings including their attendants before their royal host. For own security one had agreed that with exception of LINHOLD's guards nobody was allowed to enter armed the festival room. Fully and in strained silence the kings with their first born sons stepped forward and moved at the same time, as if also they would have thus rehearsed this part of the ceremony, before king LINHOLD.

An uncertain future expected the king sons. They stepped out with lowered view behind their fathers, bowed themselves first before king LINHOLD and then before their fathers. Now they raised their heads. They looked each other into the eyes and bowed themselves before each other. Finally they exchanged then their places and bowed themselves still a further time before the kings. During this peculiar dance of the king sons an absolute silence prevailed in the hall. No word was spoken, and no tone rang out.

After the king sons had taken their new place, TURFRIED and MERHARD turned each other and began to speak together, “my son is your son, and your son is my son. As long as I am the father of my son, so long the peace will be to prevail between our realms. In times of the emergency I swear assistance and support. The Indescribable will bless this peace!“

Now the servants brought the contract roles. TURFRIED and MERHARD signed the documents and sealed them with their rings. The long expected peace between Mittland and the Seenland was closed. As the first LINHOLD congratulated to the two former enemies to their peace treaty. On an indication of the ceremony master two servants stepped on the balcony and let ascend four white pigeons as indications of the peace into the sky. Two of the pigeons had their home in Mittland, the two others in the Seenland. Thus the inhabitants of the kingdoms were experienced by the peace.

Also the humans in the town and on the festival area saw, how the pigeons flew over their heads away. Now they knew that the peace between Mittland and Seenland had been sealed. Jubilant they tore the arms into the air, threw their hats into the sky and celebrated the newly closed peace treaty. Musicians played happy songs. The humans used the opportunity to celebrate a rushing celebration. It should persist three days and three nights, and still years later this celebration of the celebrations was very much praised by the participants.

To bei continued …
