well i tried to search some reference and found this on wikipedia "Formed at the end of the 12th century in Acre, in the Levant, the medieval Order played an important role in Outremer, controlling the port tolls of Acre. After Christian forces were defeated in the Middle East, the Order moved to Transylvania in 1211 to help defend Hungary against the Kipchak Turks. The Knights were expelled in 1225, after allegedly attempting to place themselves under Papal instead of Hungarian sovereignty."

I must admit ... I knew they were formed in the Holy Land, but had forgotten that it was in Acre. I made a quick check in wikipedia on the Sieges of Acre:
The ancient city of Acre/Akko had withstood sieges a numerous times in its history.
Siege of Acre (1104) - following the First Crusade
Siege of Acre (1189–1191) – during the Third Crusade
Siege of Acre (1291) – Fall of the final Crusader city in the Levant
Siege of Acre (1799) – during the French Revolutionary Wars
Siege of Acre (1821) – part of Ottoman power struggles
Siege of Acre (1832) – by Ibrahim Pasha of Egypt

This means that they could only have been involved  during the second siege. They weren't formed before that and they had moved afterwards.
Some more searching found that they were formed officially in Acre during the Siege of Acre (from this site:link)

You didn't make me look dumb and I don't feel bad about it. Like I said - I like history.
In another time and on another forum we used to have long lasting discussions on little facts of history.
Really liked those. And to be honest; it isn't about being right or wrong; it's about getting the facts right  ;)

And kudos ... erm ... well, let's say that you did well ;-)

Like the others, I prefer the ones with the silverish-metal armor. The darker metal is too contrasting with the other armor-parts...

Resistance is futile, you will be boarded!

I think the silver armor goes with them better,
But I think I would mix them up, light and dark.
Armour (as Wesley said) would have been black when it came out of the forge,
and would have remained so unless shined purposefully. :)
Also, it changes them up a bit.
I would keep both. :)
