Skypurr (and Junior's) Space Collection
« on: October 10, 2011, 21:46:05 »
A few weeks ago I posted a photo of what I had to sort out after Junior had customised our space collection. (it was mostly his collection but because I've had to sort it out, female logic dictates that means it's now mine too  ;D )

Junior had built some very imaginative customs using pieces from various space sets: he built a customised space station and alien centre and one of my favourite things that he  built was this large robot...

Because he was so proud of them I didn't want to take them apart so I had just put them all in large tubs to store, but as 12 months had gone by without him even taking them out to look at them and due to lack of room I really needed to break them down into smaller sets to store so I thought it was time to sort them out.

This is what I had to start with, plus a few pieces which wouldn't fit on the table.

After many hours of searching and sorting I had transformed it into these...

and

There is also a tub left over full of another almost complete space station, just a few small bits missing.  I have added the astronauts from that to the one that I built.

There are still a few things that I would like to collect - 3092 Dark Invader, 3095 Vortex Voyager, 3281 Alien Hovercraft, a few specials and some of the Playmospace items, so I'm still searching out there...

A busy and enjoyable day for you, Elaine!  I wass never impressed with the space theme, but what you show there has changed my miknd a bit, especially the three-cabined space ship which reminds me of the Dan Dare stories in The Eagle comic in the 1950s.
