Spanish/Moorish Building Suggestions
« on: March 03, 2012, 12:45:00 »
Like I don't already have enough on my plate, now I'm getting a little obsessed about creating some custom buildings with a spanish, colonial, moorish influence.
This didn't come out of nowhere, I'm going back to my roots as I was born and raised in Puerto Rico and the Old City of San Juan is so dear to me.
Anyway, because of the nature of the houses/buildings in the Old City, part of it's charm is how close together they are and also all the vibrant colors.
Some of them are very simple others are a bit more ornate. I'm sticking to just the facades (for the time being  ;) ).
Does anyone have any suggestions for the doors/windows? I'm obviously going to have to do some customizing and painting. Any ideas will be greatly appreciated.
Here are some photos of the buildings.

Interesting stuff. The victorian house is the obvious starting point. Maybe make a mold for custom trim and use sculpey or something?

The slatted doors and windows make me think of safari station sets.

The ornate railings and window trim make me think of the Fairy World palaces...

As far as integrating them.....   ????

First pic, yellow building, I could use the shutters from the Harbor Cafe painted brown

I'm guessing for window and door frames I could modify and use parts from the Grand Mansion and Victorian House.
But like Doug said, it's gonna be a challenge to get them to work together...
It's going to be a long process...  :-\
