Is Playmobil USA Twitter & Facebook new or just odd ?

I was looking around on Playmobil USA and saw a link to a Twitter and Facebook account that looks like it is endorsed and maybe run by Playmobil ? I really do not even know what a twitter is or what facebook is . does anybody have experience with these and if Playmobil runs them maybe they look in there for ideas

Facebook is a social networking site. If you open an account (it's free) you can see what other friends (nominated by you, and accepted from their end) with accounts are up to. I find it useful as half my friends and family live in the USA, and many of them use Facebook, especially the under 35s.

Twitter is some sort of live Blog site, I don't use it myself.
