Is this dog collar clip-on or through the neck?
« on: October 31, 2008, 12:02:34 »
The picture attached from playmobil.de makes the dog collar look like a clip-on, but other images I've seen make it look like it fits through a hole in the neck.

What is the truth?  I carefully got my german shepherd from the rescue pack (pictured) because I was so convinced the others go through the neck.

Hello Timotheos,

All I can tell you is from the actual sets that I own. My 2 older police German Shepard guard dog's, & handler's #3985 have the clip through the neck of the German Shepard. 3 out of 4 of my police van #3166 German Shepard's have the rubber dog leash style, along with my 4 search, & rescue dog set's #4277 that stretch, & slide over top of the dogs head. 1 of my #3166 police van's has the older style clip through the neck type  ???. I think it has to do with production timing as to which type comes in the police van. I hope this information answers your question.
Forget about all of the other stuff,....all we need is the reintroduction of the 3526 Fire Engine!

Yes, actually the older dog ones (e.g. from 3985 and 3166 as depicted) have the clip going thru the neck (it's a different plastic mould in the neck); the front at the throat symbols a dog tag.

I too am looking for German Shepherds (probably for the same reasons as Tim! ;)) without any clips or holes or anything where the leash and collar can be taken off so that the dog is it its natural state.  Does this dog exist?  Thanks.

Looking at PlaymoDB, 30 65 2302 seems as if it might be the one, Justindo.

Hi Justin

Gordon is correct.

My rescuer pack (pictured at the bottom of my first post) comes with a German Shepherd with a bonafide, removable collar.

If you're collecting G. Shepherds for the reason I suspect (Roman), you might share my disappointment at Playmobil's lack of a really believable mastiff.  The wolfhound looks more like a cocker spaniel than the sort of dog that could pull wagons and tear off a hand.  The sanuki (sp?) with the new Egyptians (a black dalmation) is close to Greyhound quality at least.  (The Romans I think had a dog similar to the greyhound).

Perhaps I'll try to get a few German Shepherds from DS.  Right now I've got a pack of hounds and couple Dalmatians, but the closest thing I can find to a Neapolitan Mastiff is the Bernese Mountain Dog.  (Currently he's my legate's faithful companion.  :)).  I just have a soft spot for dogs, even the Playmobil types!
