Different hairpiece included in 3 Gauls? - 7924
« on: August 14, 2008, 00:31:38 »
Hi everyone,

I just received today the 3 Gauls set 7924.  I noticed that the blonde Gaul seems to come with a different hair piece than what's pictured on the Playmobil site.  Here are some examples:

Above is the hair piece pictured on the official Playmobil set photo.

The one included on the figure in the pack I received is the same hair piece as the Asian mom pictured above, but a blonde color.

Does anyone know if this is a packing mistake with the set I received, or maybe a running change of some sort?

Good question!  I think it's a safe assumption that the Gauls in 5841 - Romans' Camp are the same as two of these.  The blond Gaul in 5841, 30 00 4762 - Gaul, blond hair and beard, black vest, yellow boots, is illustrated with the hair you describe and does indeed come with it, according to playmowars over on Playmoboard who sent me the photos.  It's actually a pretty common hairstyle, at least among women: Hair style = styled female (no hat), Hair colour=blond.  I bet it was a preliminary photo and the hair was changed before distribution.

Do I hear corroboration or counter-argument?

(By the way, while I think of it: what is the redhead's hair like?  Can't tell from the front.)

That's too bad.  I rather like the hair piece pictured since it would seem to be new.

The hair piece on the red headed Gaul is actually a really cool one that was included on some of the pirate figures.  This one I believe: http://playmodb.org/cgi-bin/showpart.pl?partnum=30-13-0520

A long, thin ponytail in that auburn-red colour?  Yes, very cool!  I was debating which set to get the Gauls from, but that clinches it: I'd rather have that third one than yet another superset base that doesn't connect to anything. New blond hair (mostly new, the 30 14 2860 - Soccer goalie, female, blond short hair has it too) would have been nice too, but that's how it goes.

Oh, by the way, they're Gepetto's photos, very sorry - getting people's secret identities mixed up.

I've got 4 sets of the 3-gaul group, and they're all the way starhorse described, not like the picture, but I never noticed and am not bothered. I'm sure the picture was pre-production and the part was chaged, we've seen it before.

I'd have liked different red hair, as this guy has the same style as the Gaul leader.
