Not 100% sure but I think the forgotten password link only appears if you are logged out. The forum server then sends the info to your registered email address.
However occasionally the email containing the password will be blocked or land in a spam folder which is not very helpful.
I can give you a temporary password and you can then change it to something more secure and memorable, if that helps?
Using the secret question feature to aid memory is also advisable.
