Basically it is a sign that PM is looking to develop "media properties". They have seen the runaway success of some of the L*go themes (Ninjago was apparently a smash hit) and they want a piece of that sweet multimedia multiplatform licensing dosh. So they will just keep throwing stuff at the wall until something sticks. Asian dragons? No? How about Fire and Ice Fighters? No? etc.

To the degree that it will increase playmopresence in the world and especially in the US, I agree with Tiermann. But I question how much of the Playmobil we love will remain. This is a step away from the careful creation of tasteful medieval or Victorian or Eskimo miniworlds. This is modern media marketting. And it doesn't appeal to me.

Birdie and I will sit in the refuseniks' corner and sulk.

I will  8-) But only because I don't like the look of the characters. If they were done beautifully (with clickies actually resembling clickies), I would probably like it a lot.

I'm really concerned the new eyes and weird hairdoes will completely replace the original clicky look, if this series becomes successful.

Is this what the article meant? For some reason I assumed it was fashion for people but klicky fashion is even better.
If you hear the sound of the bell which will tell you that Grigori has been killed, if it was your relations who have wrought my death, then no one in the family will remain alive. They will be killed by the Russian people. :prays:

i guess i went a little creative with my interpretation of the article...
 :-[
but the important thing in here is that it seems that geobra is reaching for outside designers.  :)
open your mind and you will grow.
this joint-venture was organized as a promotion for playmobil's fashion-sets.
bastiaan was a playmo-fan when he was a child and was asked to choose some representative fashion trends.
the figures are not for sale.
now, all geobra needs to do is to choose a guy like bastiaan to design the fashion sets and hire a very good marketing company to show them to the world.

if they need someone for the pirate theme, i am available, of course.  :)
