sceneries from old catalogues

Sorry to drag up an old thread but those are some great pictures MBL. I envy your collection of catalogues. How far back do they go?

I also wonder if maybe you could help me verify some information?

I am looking for information on the attached picture, which is supposedly from the 1986 catalogue. A set # and name would be a great start. The set # I have is 3478, but I have always questioned that. Any verification and/or help on that from your early catalogues would be appreciated.

Yeah Dunc, it looks just like the box photo for 3478 in the Playmobil Collector book. In version 1 of the book it;s page 84 lower left corner.

I don't have the books Tim.   Never got around to putting in an order w/ Axel for the first one, and havent got around to buying the 2nd edition yet.

I've had that picture since 03 when I first started on the PLM Jeepz page and have never been able to verify it's number or if it was infact from 1986. According to the only other picture I have, the set dates to 84. I may have even supplied that picture for the book as I do recall sending Axel some images for the book in his early research days. But I don't recall what I sent.

I like the older and original pictures of these sets before they have been tampered with and mixed up with other parts. This means, I cannot be sure of the contents of the set during my research. And for my own writing and collecting purposes, this can be a bit frustrating. I know my own set isn't complete or has been mixed up a bit klicky and/or parts-wise based on the other picture I have, but I always wanted to verify the years it existed if I could especially whether or not in the 1986 catalogue.

I guess I should pick up a 2nd edition Collectors Book, it might be a good thing to have around. I'll put that on my list of things to get from DS.

In the 2nd edition it's on p96, bottom right and is shown as running from 1984/85-1988/89.

Your pic is also shown as being on the front of the 1986/87 catalogue on page 105.

How, btw, did I miss this thread earlier?  Thanks for all your work on it Jean Luc, and thanks Outback for reviving it.
