A Strange Sport Horse
« on: July 17, 2012, 19:46:28 »
As part of my 4th of July order from Playmobil USA I got the last two horses I needed from the breeds series. When I opened the 5111 Sport Horse set I was surprised to see this:

The mane is not the same as the box or other sport horse pictures I've seen. It's the same mane type as the Trakehner.  Is this common? Have others gotten this one?
Does anyone have the new 5221 Horse Farm set? It has a tan horse with this mane type in it, but I suspect the tan is a different color.

So is this an error? I think it must be? Was it just switched with a horse that was supposed to be in the 5221, or is it more of a production error and they forgot to change the mane mold when they went to making the horses for this set?

Most interesting... the most logical explanation would probably be that the entire horse is the one from the new pony stable/farm but without what I assume is the purple screen printing applied... unless it is a sticker... in which case the two horses could be easy to mistake. For it to be a production assembly error rather than a production packing error would require parts from 3 separate horses as the hair on the horse that you pictured is from the Trakehner (in the dark brown rather than the cream), the head from the Haflinger, and the body from the German sport horse. So I would guess that you got a horse from the barn instead of your sport horse.
Someday, I will organize my stuff, I promise.

I'm pretty sure that saddle blanket is a separate piece. The body and head of the Sport Horse and Trakehner are the same molds, the only difference is the mane. The mane, head and eyes are all molded together in one machine but using three different mold parts. So it would just take forgetting to switch out the one mold part.
We really need someone who has had the new pony farm set to tell us what that horse is really like. The box pictures make the color of tan look lighter in the farm set, but that may not be accurate.
I assume others have gotten the horse that matches the box in mane style?
