they are great... BUT the blue one should have had a red roof... it would look SO much better... if someone wants to do a roof swap they can show people what I mean... I dont have a blue one right now or I'd do it :)

I have 16 houses with the dark blue roofs, red, yellow, blue. I want to swap them all ( incl the red ones ) for red roofs , i had  a quote from a seller for a total cost for the needed parts only of 250euros, i didint go for it ( yet ) but i think they will look much better actually. i dont like at all these dark roofs !!!!!

Steck forever !!!!

I like them all. I have at least one of each color except the early yellow one.

I started this thread because I've never liked the red and blue houses.  (Although the red one is starting to grow on me, having seen it mixed in with some of the white houses in a catalogue photo.)

I'd love to see a blue house with a red roof.  Perhaps that would change my mind.  I also suspect that the blue house would look better with white windows and possibly a white door.  There's something about the brown windows that doesn't seem to match the blue walls (to my eyes).

I don't own any except a green one, which I like a lot, probably because the green is not very saturated.  In fact, that may be why I don't like the blue house -- the highly saturated blue just knocks me over.  It's too strong.

I'm looking for some yellow ones because I like them, too.  Because I agree that variety in wall color and roof color is a good thing.  Maybe I need to try to find a red one.  The blue?  Well .... ???

I was just curious to know what others think.  Thanks!

Good points Kenny, Perhaps a few alterations on the houses can make a difference. like klickies, nothing is written in stone with these steck houses, you can easily change door windows and roofs, to make them as you wish  ;)

yes the white doors and windows do look fantastic... i altered my brother's a few years back... the red house BTW looks more natural with the brown windows and doors... oddly enough
Someday, I will organize my stuff, I promise.

*Cough...* All the houses with the same roofs would be period... :toot:
Unless, you chose to have some of the outer houses with grey roofs and inner houses with orange/red while in your city.
You could pass off the grey as slate and say they made the outer houses out of slate to protect them from fire and stones,
And the inner houses only have clay because slate is expensive and the inner houses don't need as much protection...
But that is a stretch. :hmm:

Still, I will be doing something like that with my castle...
My homes will all have red roofs, but my castle (where is has a roof) will be the grey 'slate' roofs. :)9

Also, painted houses... not period, at least as far as I know.
If you know other wise, please say so. :)
But I know they are not period for the early middles ages.
However, the yellow I like. Since it could be considered period and it looks nice. ;D
Steck is BACK! <:>

Is the blue as saturated in person as it looks in the photo?
I know the recent yellow one looked much brighter and yellower in the photo and is actually a very pleasant yellow. I like that one a lot, and the old green one as well. I like the red well enough but only use it at Halloween and Christmas when it goes well with the holiday color themes.

I much prefer the red roofs.
