What sort of paint do you use?

Hi all just wondered if I wanted to paint the floors and walls of my mansion what sort of paint should I use and is there a particular way of going about it e.g sanding/undercoating parts first?

Krylon Fusion is mentioned quite often on this forum as a spray paint that works well on plastic.
