Steck help!
« on: February 18, 2011, 00:54:13 »
Ok, so have picked up a very few steck parts from a UK seller. His prices are a bit OTT, but I won a book off him so am taking advantage of postage.

I need to know what bits I need to ensure I can put them together!

I want to build a custom room, so just a square or rectangular shape, although I will eventually make a gryffindor tower using curved tower sections.

Do I need one of these to connect every two flat wall pieces?

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=290532571401&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT

Can people please tell me what essential bits I need?

I am a novice when it comes to Steck, but I think the answer is yes.  You would need one to connect every two wall sections.  There are also connectors that are shaped like a T (top of picture below.)  These also connect two wall sections and you can add an interior or exterior wall.

You are in no way a novice - the dollhouses (the olde ones) use the Steck system.  You probably have more Steck experience than most people on here - you're just being modest.   :)

A picture is a thousand words and Sir Wolf beat me once again on one of my favourite topics : Steck !!!!

A couple of things to remember

(1) 3 way ( T) Steck  connectors an essential for any large steck designs
(2) 2 way connectors a must if building is over one steck in height
(3) Rare but they exist - 4 way connectors ( in light brown only) can prove very handy see my latest steck mediavl set up the front of the royals' quarters .
(4) Special connectors needed for joining round steck towers with walls - See Sir Wolf's picture.
(5) There is never enough Steck !
