"We are the playmomen"

Some years ago, there was Norwegian and Danish music band named Aqua. They made a song called Barbie girl. They sort of make fun of the well known Barbiedoll:

I'm a barbie girl, in the barbie world
Life in plastic, it's fantastic!
you can brush my hair, undress me everywhere
Imagination, life is your creation
Come on Barbie, let's go party!



The song is simple and childish, but catchy See the lyrics here.

However, a few years later the movie Get Ready To Be Boyzvoiced was launched. It has nothing to do with Aqua  But it is a comedy making fun of boybands like Take That, Westlife etc. There is a musicvideo in the movie that is a parody of Barbie girl, called We are the playmomen 

I've been looking everywhere for that musicvideo. No, have not found it yet  But would like to share with you what I got.

The video starts with this boy playing his playmo  His mom calls for him, and he leaves the room.


But then magic appears, and the playmotoys comes alive


The playmomen then sings the song We are the playmomen in the same catchy and childish way as Barbie girl:

We came in a cardboard box from afar
We're made in Taiwan

A wonderful toy, giving you so much joy
that you cry out words like these:
- "Let me play my playmo, please!"

I'm familiar with the Aqua song as that got a real lot of airplay here.

Never heard of this other one though!
The lyrics to it sound very funny and are quite an accurate description of klickies (aside from being made in... TAIWAN??!! ).
The screenshots really make me eager to see the video. I hope you will manage to track it down one day.

In the meantime, I'd really like to hear this song, so I'd love for you to e-mail it to me.

I listened to this with one of my kids. He thought it was quite weird until I explained it was written as a parody, rather than a serious song.

I'll say one thing for it. It's very catchy - hard to get the song out of your head afterwards.

Thanks for the song Kristian! I played it for the kids, and now Merboy runs around the house singing "We are the Playmomen!" at the top of his lungs!

Oh, my wife says to say thanks too!  She is sick of the refrain!
