It is indeed impossible in one day or even in 13 years visiting at least once a year. I know because we haven't visited them all yet!
You will probably need to keep in or very near to Valletta as though Malta's roads have greatly improved in the last five years, travelling is still quite slow with low speed limits by mainland European standards.
