Help needed in identifying these please
« on: December 04, 2009, 10:45:43 »
Hi,

I am in need of help in identifying the following please:

Firstly is a go kart set, still sealed in its bag, but ive never seen one of these before, usually only with people with fixed hands, and different colour karts etc  ???

The second is a yellow Playpeople car, that says 'Ferrari' front and back, with 'Michellin' and 'Agip' both on either side. It did come with a roof rack when I bought it, but swapped it for a light because I thought it looked better!

Lastly is an orange 'Bosch' car, with white wheels instead of the usual grey. I was wondering if someone had changed the wheels over, but i dont know why they would bother, and anyway ive sadly never been succesful before without breaking the car  :'(

Anyone got any ideas?

I'm confused, the one in your pic has grey wheels, did the contents colour sometimes differ from the one on the box's colour?

Hi flatcat,

The stickers on the yellow car may not be genuine playmobil items, it could be somebody's old customised car using other stickers they found. If you put the black roof rack on it and ignore the stickers it is probably the Playpeople car from set 1786.

The bag you have is very interesting and could be an early promotional set from the early 80's when Playmobil UK was formed.

Playmobil UK ran a special offer with the TV times, I'm not sure if you had to send any money or the sets where free if you just filled in a form. I only have one Image that might be the set that you have but it appears that the figure in the car is not original and the yellow Firemans BA has also been added.
I keep looking out for old copies of the TV Times to find the promotional sets mentioned, it would be nice to see what exclusive sets where available through the offer.

Thanks Sir Gareth   :wow:

Shame about the car  :( , but the info about the go kart set is very interesting, and thanks for the information  - that's definately the one. I had purchased it not long ago at a junk shop for £4, which doesn't seem too bad considering that it is a promotional  :)
