it is so strange.  :hmm:
i am puzzled.  8}
as far as i know, this set was released in the us in 2007 and it was never available in the on-line listing.
this is very common, just as if playmobil usa would have 2 families of sets - some appear on their site and some don't.
... and the ones that don't are a lot of them - at least in the pirate world.
i remember this year's 5802 blister, 5865 mini-set and 5868 octopus attack.
or 2007's 5781, 5807, 5808 and 5809 pirates, 5778 and 5810 ships.
most of these sets are usually referred to as target or toys 'r us exclusives but seeing the 5775 on sale in an offical playmobil newsletter seems to change everything.  ::)

Hi Cachalote :wave:

   You are not the only one who finds this strange and confusing. I have become confused enough to have to ask for playmofriends help in trying to figure it out here. I was looking forward to the new micro sets (4334, 4335, 4336 & 4337 ) that were even listed in the new 2009 catalog with a release date of 1/09. I have yet to see them anywhere.

Ras, I thought your previous query was regarding the early removal of sets from the Playmobil US site, whereas Cachalote is asking why some sets which never appear in the official catalogue ARE available through the US website.

I would guess in the latter case, the sets may have gone to Target on a sale or return basis, and as they didn't sell well enough, Playmo have a bunch back which they are now knocking out on the cheap.

I don't like the colour of the ship's deck in this set so I won't be buying one regardless of how cheap it is.

Some Krylon Fusion paint could quickly take care of that color problem for you, Martin! ...  ;)

Yes Martin you spotted my continued confusion in the things Playmobil is doing , whether it be repackaging discontinuations or not listing sets at all "what are they doing!" 8}

I'm sure with the exclusives they have a specific agreement to how long the item is exclusive. Once that time has been met Playmobil would be free to offer it themselves or to other retailers. It's likely this is a case of leftover stock. They often have older discontinued sets pop up in the sales section for no apparent reason. Probably clearing out warehouse space.
