Mechelen Museum - 2009 Playmobil Exhibition in videos
« on: August 22, 2009, 10:21:49 »

As Hobbes recently joined our happy Playmo Family, lets honour the beautiful Flanders which hosts a Playmobil Exhibition celebrating 35 years of our favorite little Friend...

Mechelen may be small, but it is perfectly formed and ideal for a weekend break and is ideally located as a base from which to explore Brussels.

The capital of the Lowlands in the early 16th century, Mechelen has a number of impressive buildings including a large number of churches, famous for their carillon (bell) playing and their paintings - several have Rubens and Van Dyck paintings.

Exhibition from 19/06/09 to 03/01/10

Address: Nekkerspoelstraat 21 Mechelen 2800
Belgium
Tel: 32 0 1555 70175

We visited the Playmobil Exhibition a couple of weeks ago with the entire family and everyone had a good time.

The exhibition starts of with a huge diorama from a playmo fan picturing an aquatic theme park and proceeds showing the evolution from the pre-playmobil toys to the latest playmobil themes. All themes have their own display combining different sets that have been made through playmobil history.
At regular intervals there are tables with sets on display with which the kids can play. The Egyptian theme was a big hit with my son so he already has a pretty good idea of what he wants next!

There is even a machine that produces mice that the kids can take as souvenir.

Of course we forgot our digital camera though :/ so no pictures.

Thanks for posting playmovictorian!

Thank you Hobbes for your contribution  :wow:!!!

I imagine the play area with tables and Playmo sets on display for the kids to play may have looked a bit like these...
