Did anyone see the movie "Last of the Mohicans" about ten years ago?
I remember Kevin Costner sniping injuns at about 300 meters with a smooth bore, round-shot musket.

More like twen'y years ago (fifteen, actually -- about fifteen), and it was Daniel Day-Lewis
'Love that movie! Red coats in the middle of eastern coast North American indians in a valley ... And North East American mountains (Atlas, if not mistaken) quite look like the Petropolis mountains, in Rio de Janeiro State, Brasil ... It must be the Atlantic side looks ...
It's funny, too, to see English battery shouting "prepare ... fire!", while English soldiers were preparing, indians were hiding behind trees ... After they had shot, indians attacked, of course! Soon, white men must have learnt that "shoot at will" would be much more efficient, because indians attacked at will ... Even so, were anihilated by us. (In the "13 States", and here as well.)
A very nice movie, in which I also learnt the origin of the word Yankee (from how indians called the way French called the English, but the indians of that region probably didn't speak the "l", so, "les anglaises" became " 'e-ang'aise", "eeangeese" and, later, "yankee" ...
)
I have it here. It's a tiring movie to watch (lots of people runing upwards ...), but I still watch it, now and again ...
