SPAAR ZEGEL.
« on: January 27, 2008, 12:00:45 »
Hi all,

In my collection of Specials I have 2 boxes, 4535 Mongolian warrior and 4540 Viking both from 96-97.

On the back of each box there is a token for Spaar Zegel.

Obviously you had to cut out the tokens and exchange them for more Playmobil. Does any one know how many tokens you needed to get a Playmobil set and what sets could you get?

Also where these boxes produced for a particular store or was the promotion available all over Europe?

"voor korting op"

Looks like Dutch text. :)

Seems likely these boxes were produced specifically for the Netherlands.

Thanks for sharing, Garry. I'm Also curious to find out more about them.

Hopefully, Rob (arab warrior) or another member will be able to answer your questions. :)

It is Dutch.
The zegel (or rather a number of them) would give you a discount on your next Playmobil-buy.
mmm - probably an old action - considering the special.

Anyway. All I can say that it sounds odd ... It's a "spaarzegel" from Texaco; a petrol stationchain ...
How did you get the Specials in the first place????

Thanks Bogro,

I kept looking at that logo and knew I had seen it before but never thought of Texaco, I thought it was like one star = one point.

So it could be a possibility that you got one of these free if you spent so much on your petrol or you had to collect tokens for them. Working on that line of thought there might of been 6 or 12 to collect depending on how long the promotion ran for.

As for how I got them, well, they both came from Ebay, bought roughly a year apart.

I'm sure some Dutch collector will have all the answers and maybe even the full set of these promotional Dutch exclusive specials.
