Here are some pictures of silly-looking but real knights' crests from medieval times. Wouldn't it be fun to see such crests on PM knights. They already have the big horn ones.

The Japanese have their own version in "kawari kabuto". Even rabbit ones!

Psychological warfare (headology). Go into battle with a chicken or a rabbit on your head and the enemy will run away (it helps to have 10,000 English archers behind you), or fall about laughing!

PS this must have been the inspiration for some of the ideas in Monty Python and the Holy Grail

I understand that usually these were more used at tournaments or other gatherings to make a big impression.  Mediaeval military bling as it were.
