Non-playmobil steck question

I remember several years ago seeing a product that looked near identical to castle steck, does anyone know what this would be? The connectors were slightly different but otherwise it was directly copied from steck including the small 1x1 roofs.
I've tried looking online but found nothing.

Thanks, it could be that though the castle I was thinking of was available I believe in the early 2000s and came in a large box.
