Mystery Baseplate
« on: June 07, 2016, 13:35:26 »
Does anyone know which set this light grey baseplate comes from?  It is one piece.

I've searched on PlaymoDB, but can't find it.  Maybe I'm using the wrong description or something.

5474 Unicorn Jewel Castle. 30 25 7513 http://playmodb.org/cgi-bin/showpart.pl?partnum=30%2025%207513

It took some finding! First of all, I searched for 'Grundplatte' (German for baseplate) on PlaymoDB, but missed it in the pictures which came up. Thinking it looked like a fairytale castle base (!), I searched Themes = Fairy World and Fairy Tales and Focus= Building, then looked at the set pictures.

At that moment the ship suddenly stopped rocking and swaying, the engine pitch settled down to a gentle hum. 'Hey Ford.' said Zaphod, 'that sounds good. Have you worked out the controls on this boat?' 'No,' said Ford, 'I just stopped fiddling with them.' (With thanks to Douglas Adams)

Oh wow, how amazing you are!  I searched on 'base', 'baseplate', 'base plate' and 'floor', and still couldn't find it.

It looked quite new, so I couldn't imagine that I'd received it in a secondhand mixed lot, but I simply had no other idea about where it came from.

Of course .... Mr Raven bought that set some long time ago.  We'd planned an afternoon out, and then decided that the money we spent on the afternoon out would be gone as soon as the afternoon had ended.  But if we spent the same amount of money on Playmobil, we'd have it forever.  And so we went to the toyshop, and he bought that Unicorn Jewel Castle.

We've used parts of it in various things but never that baseplate again.

It has been bothering me for some time; I have a container marked 'Grey Baseplates' - all the usual squares and rectangles ... and that one.  Looking at me.  In an 'I am lovely, but you have no idea what I was used for' sort of way.

Many thanks.

That's the spirit!  ;D
(and actually a familiar reasoning..)

I often use that same logic when buying Playmobil.  8}

You and I have this in common, Raven: our spouses support and share in our love of Playmobil!
