More Connectivity For the Different Bases
« on: November 14, 2015, 15:42:23 »
So the thought about whether or not you can connect multiple beach houses (5636) makes me think about the difficulty that exists.  There are a lot of sets that are "stand alone" type sets that would look awesome if they could be connected to other sets (a lot of the landscape bases).   Playmobil doesn't give us the flexibility to do that (I guess because it would be making it seem more like a Building System) with their odd shaped bases but how awesome would it be to be able to hook some of the buildings together, or for example the Harbor Cafe/ Luxury Beach house...

But I guess that is what makes us great as collectors because we do find ways to make it work in dioramas.
I'm glad that I'm not the only one :)

"if you want to build buy LEGO"  ::) oh how I hate this stance from Geobra  :'(

That would be so great to beable to conect things together. If the lost concept of "interchangable" not only was for klickies but was applied to everything wouldnt it encourage people to buy more? Expand your world one house/klicky/landscape at a time.

This reminds me

If you hear the sound of the bell which will tell you that Grigori has been killed, if it was your relations who have wrought my death, then no one in the family will remain alive. They will be killed by the Russian people. :prays:

They did that pretty well with the African wildlife series a while back, with the different sets all looking ok individually, but the bases connected together to make a stream. I actually would like to see fewer large piece bases and more small stands for scenery elements. I would rather the plastic and money put into a big base piece be spent on more figures and accessories in the set itself, or a bigger better structure.

I would like to see better connection ability between the smaller bases (to make a cluster of trees for example or a large patch of flowers).  I don't like all of the "funky cut outs" that they have around the buildings recently.  Honestly, I like plain "footprints" for the buildings.  They briefly tried adding the sidewalks to the outside of buildings, a concept that I really liked.

A curious thing is that playmobil added many useless baseplates where its not needed, and Lego pretty much banned baseplates while they are very much needed to encourage creativity and give some good ground to build on.

I'd like to see stand alone castles. The new ones are difficult enough to do anything with as is, but when certain pieces don't even work without having to sit on a big rock, it really reduces what you can do with them.

It would also be nice to have to have a base plate for something like the chapel? in 6000 so it can be used as a stand alone building. Actually that's something that I'd like to see in playmobil, though it may be considered to macabre to be produced. A graveyard. Baseplate with cobble path and holes for inserting headstones, fences, trees etc. Make the baseplate modular or at least compatible with the baseplate I suggested for the chapel.

You could also have a modular baseplate system for doing something like an amusement park - mini-golf, garden etc. I think mini-golf would work well, each plate would have a different hazzard on it and an actual ball would be used to get through the different hazzards.

Anyway enough rambling, but I would like a graveyard...and an angry mob.

I love that idea!!  :D

EDIT: And yes leefert, you're absolutely right.

I liked those sidewalks too, they were great for building a town with actual street etc.
