unknown classic klicky
« on: September 12, 2015, 22:02:02 »
I got two of these guys as part of a lot of classic figures. I don't think they're custom. I'm guessing they came from some circus set based on their colours, anyone know?

if you look up the early sets in the Playmobil Collector, the circus acrobat theme  3512 had yellow arms and red shirts or dresses and yellow legs, with red hats, so I do not think so.

A couple of years ago, I listed all the fixed-wrist klickies and sent the data to Heather. She added it to PlaymoDB. Whilst there was some 'flexibility' in the exact make-up of klickies in the 1970s (mainly I think hair colour being different from the pictures on the box), I am confident this combination of arm, leg and torso colour never appeared in an official set. The nearest would be yellow torso, red arms, red legs in sets 3542, 3550 or 3187x. Or red torso, red arms, white legs (in 11 sets). Even Marx toys (UK made) did not have the combination your figures have. So, for me, they are customs!
At that moment the ship suddenly stopped rocking and swaying, the engine pitch settled down to a gentle hum. 'Hey Ford.' said Zaphod, 'that sounds good. Have you worked out the controls on this boat?' 'No,' said Ford, 'I just stopped fiddling with them.' (With thanks to Douglas Adams)
