I have the same problem and I went back to the store, putting the shoes on and it happened on 6 boxes of them. I finally gave up as the local store is not helpful at all. It is not about the look at all, but the safety!! The cracked pieces are especially dangerous and would shoot to a person's eyes when they break!! I hope playmobil could recall ALL OF THEM.

Use a hair dryer to warm the shoe plastic before installing, making the plastic more pliable. I don't recommend removing & installing them constantly due to the plastic type used in manufacturing.
hope the kids know this and no one got hurt :-\

Sorry to resurrect a really old thread, but I was wondering if any new techniques have been discovered in the past few years.

I broke the original shoe covers and recently order more from DS (sadly they only had 2 in stock, so I have no extras). Do you think hot water would work? I don't have a hair dryer.
